2025 Grantee Spotlight: Corazón Healdsburg
Participants celebrate graduating from the Family Resource Center’s computer literacy classes, building practical skills that help families move toward greater stability.
Corazón Healdsburg’s Family Resource Center is a trusted place where local families find support, connection, and care. We recently spoke with Executive Director Marcy Flores about how Healdsburg Forever’s 2025 grant helped strengthen this community space and support families in Healdsburg and Geyserville during moments of both urgency and transition.
How was your Healdsburg Forever grant used this year?
The Healdsburg Forever grant supported the work of Corazón’s Family Resource Center (FRC), a trusted space where families seek guidance, stability, and connection. The majority of the grant was used for direct assistance, primarily to help families in Healdsburg and Geyserville with urgent housing and utility needs. The remaining funding supported general operating costs, helping sustain the staff time and infrastructure required to provide culturally responsive, relationship-based support.
Together, this funding ensured families had access to timely financial relief while also maintaining a steady, trusted place they could turn to for longer-term support.
What impact did this funding have on families served through the Family Resource Center?
Through this support, the Family Resource Center served 893 unduplicated households in 2025 and provided direct assistance to help families address urgent housing and utility needs.
Beyond immediate relief, families accessed longer-term stabilization services, including financial wellness workshops with 140 participants, one-on-one immigration support for more than 150 individuals, and computer literacy classes with 32 graduates. These services help families move from short-term crisis toward greater stability and self-sufficiency.
What progress or successes stood out for your organization this year?
With Healdsburg Forever’s support, the Family Resource Center remained a steady and trusted space for families navigating rising living costs and housing instability. Flexible funding allowed Corazón to respond quickly to urgent needs, helping prevent evictions, keep utilities on, and reduce immediate financial stress for local households.
At the same time, general operating support sustained the staffing and coordination needed to walk alongside families beyond crisis moments. Families reported increased stability, stronger financial confidence, and deeper connections to community resources. Many who initially came for assistance continued participating in workshops and services, strengthening overall community resilience.
What challenges did families face this year, and how did Corazón respond?
The rising cost of living continues to be one of the greatest challenges for the families we support. Housing instability, high utility costs, limited access to affordable childcare, immigration-related uncertainty, and mental health stressors all place ongoing strain on working families.
Corazón responded by strengthening partnerships, leveraging flexible funding to meet urgent needs, and expanding workshops that support financial knowledge and stability. Promotoras and Family Resource Center staff continued to meet families where they are, providing culturally rooted, relationship-based support that builds trust and long-term connection.
What should our community know as you look ahead?
The need for trusted, relationship-based support continues to grow. The Family Resource Center is often the first place families turn during times of uncertainty, and it is also where they find dignity, connection, and hope. Flexible funding remains essential to sustaining this work and responding quickly to community needs.
We are deeply grateful for Healdsburg Forever’s partnership and investment in local families. Together, we are helping ensure that families in Healdsburg and Geyserville not only get through challenging moments but have the support and tools to thrive long after the immediate crisis has passed.
